As a real estate agent in Buena Vista, I’d love to share my perspective on the 2025 market, a year that unfolded in ways many of us didn’t anticipate. We began the year steady, only to shift into a noticeably slower market. Buyers were actively looking, yet hesitant to act. Many were waiting for interest rates to drop, but those meaningful decreases never truly came. Others waited for the U.S. Trade Treaty to be resolved or for inflation to ease, but those changes also didn’t materialize. So, the theme of the year became clear: waiting.
Increased inventory placed additional pressure on sellers, prompting price reductions that were often discouraging but necessary. We experienced a brief and much needed uptick in activity in August, but momentum stalled again when the U.S. Government shutdown began, ultimately becoming the longest in history. This had a significant impact on USDA and other government backed loans and created broader uncertainty that touched many aspects of daily life. Above all, it fueled a sense of instability across the country.
Thankfully, this final quarter has brought renewed energy to the Buena Vista market, a welcome shift that many of us feel deeply. Looking ahead, I’m genuinely optimistic. We’ve moved past several major hurdles, and the buyers who have been waiting on the sidelines appear to be ready to move quickly in 2026.
